Designing with Heart: The Story Behind WBC Vacations

WBC Vacations is more than a vacation rental, it’s a personal extension of how I believe people should feel when they travel: welcomed, grounded, and inspired. When I began designing this space, I wasn’t just thinking about aesthetics. I was thinking about how it would live. How people would experience it. How it could become part of their story.

Much of my design perspective comes from time spent living abroad. I’ve called both England and Croatia home, and those experiences deeply influenced the way I see space and style. Each place taught me that “home” looks different to everyone—but the feeling of comfort is universal. Whether it’s the layered textures of a cozy corner or the quiet luxury of well-thought-out simplicity, I design to create that feeling wherever I can.

When I began working on WBC Vacations, I approached it like a guest. What would make the space easy to navigate? What small touch would bring a sense of calm after a long travel day? What visual moments would make someone stop, smile, and maybe even take a photo?

Designing for short-term rentals means constantly balancing beauty with function. The spaces have to hold up to real life—families, wet bathing suits, spilled wine—but they also have to feel special. They have to feel like someone cared enough to make it beautiful, just for them.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. I want people to walk into our space and exhale. I want them to sleep well, eat well, laugh a lot, and leave with memories they didn’t expect to make. That’s the kind of magic thoughtful design can offer.

WBC Vacations is a space rooted in hospitality and intention. It reflects what I’ve learned from years of travel and from paying close attention to what makes a space feel good. And for me, there’s no greater reward than seeing a guest feel right at home—even when they’re far from it.
